Our one-day workshops aim at advancing the skills of beginning and intermediate weavers and spinners. Each topic will provide you with a new skill, and will be easy enough to finish in a day.

Cotton Spinning

Instructor: Susan Hector Time: 10 am to 3 pm Location: Om Center, 7951 University Avenue, La Mesa Fee: $70 members, $80 nonmembers Learn the basics of spinning cotton on a supported spindle in this workshop. Cotton is a short fiber so some extra tricks are needed to create sound yarn for weaving and knitting. With basic skills learned during the workshop, you will be able to expand into spinning cotton on a treadle and flyer wheel if you desire. read more and register... |

A hand spindle lets you slow down the process of drafting fiber to make yarn because you provide your own speed and tension. This workshop will use easy to spin wool roving and simple suspended spindles to introduce you to the principles of spinning.
