75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee ExhibitThe Guild celebrated our diamond anniversary with an exhibit at the Escondido Municipal Gallery September 10-October 2, 2021.
The exhibit featured the creative work of our members, and included a diverse collection of functional and decorative items. The public were treated to able to see hand woven garments and scarves, functional items such as table linens and hand woven dish towels, as well as tapestries and basketry. Creations made from hand spun yarn were also highlighted. Founded in 1946 for the purpose of preserving and promoting the art of hand weaving, the Guild has met continuously every month (except July and August) for 75 years! During the pandemic meetings were held via zoom, but we have resumed our monthly in-person meetings. Diamond Challenge
To celebrate our anniversary, Guild members were given the challenge to weave something with a diamond pattern. This could be a weave structure that features diamonds, a tapestry of diamonds, or...the possibilities were immense. The results were awesome, with everything from clothing and scarves to tapestries.
