Tablet Weaving Basics
Tablet weaving is a form of band weaving that uses tablets, or cards, threaded on the warp to produce a shed. You will learn the basics of tablet weaving by weaving a narrow band on an inkle loom, including how to read a pattern, warp an inkle loom with tablets, and weave by turning the tablets according to the pattern sequence.
The workshop also provides a general overview of tablet weaving historically and culturally with a presentation of woven examples from different countries. Different loom set-ups and warping methods will be discussed for participants who want to explore alternative methods on their own.
