This is a saxony style wheel I purchased from Craigslist a few months ago. He is working (I call him the Cantankerous Ol' Dude.) He comes with one bobbin - chipped, a drive band fashioned of a length of waxed cotton string, and is generally a tiny bit wobbly. One ratio only on the bobbin with which it came. Irish tension, which I finagled by tying a cord around at varying degrees of tightness. In all, not a perfect wheel, and I don't recommend it for a beginner like me. I do believe that it was hand made, but I don't know anything about its story from before I bought it.

Here's the deal. I'm not knowledgeable enough or really skilled enough to bring this wheel to its full capacity. It's not so crotchety that I, a complete novice having only spun on a functioning wheel for a week, was unable to spin. I actually managed to get some usable yarn out of it. (See here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cinediva/2195634037/)

An expert spinner might be able to identify what exactly this wheel needs.  The ideal buyer perhaps knows or is related to someone skilled with a wood lathe who could whip up a few more bobbins.

Basically, I just want back what I spent on this wheel: $75. I'm in Kensington in San Diego, CA. Cash only, please.  I can be reached at cheryl@cherylkatz.org
